Advantages of Automatic Sprinkler Systems:

Green Way Irrigation systems are safe, efficient and quiet.

Water conservation is the main reason for an auto-irrigation system. Every inch of your property will have even coverage and distribution of water. The watering will be timed and calibrated so there will be no wasted water, giving you a green lawn and saving you money.

Watering in the early morning allows for peak water pressure. The time of day is very important, our systems start around 3 a.m. and run until about 8 a.m. This eliminates evaporation of water to the sun. Wind is at a day time low so all water lands “on target” saving you money.

Proper irrigation reduces soil temperatures. Many diseases are generated when soils go over 80 degrees. During the late summer, these temperatures are many times exceeded.

The System
There are several important pieces that need to come together simultaneously in order for an irrigation system to function properly.

Controller – This is the brain of the irrigation system. This item holds the programs that control the irrigation system. By programming the clock properly it will save you money.

Sprinkler HeadsThis is the part of the system that delivers the water to your lawn. The sprinkler heads are a very vital portion of the overall system. The two most popular are geared rotors or spray heads. They are also known as pop ups.

Valves – These pieces of equipment receive orders from the controller via wires. They open or close when indicated controlling the flow of water to a specific zone. The valves are buried inside of a plastic box underground to protect them from corrosion. Often they are installed in a secluded area that does not get much attention, or behind a group of bushes.

Rain Sensor – This is wired into the controller. The rain sensor is designed to shut down the system when it detects rain. The sensor will then automatically come back online once it dries, saving you money and your lawn from overwatering.

Backflow Preventer – In the state of Connecticut, by law, a backflow preventer needs to be installed. This is a safety measure designed to protect the consumer.

Special Needs
In addition to typical residential and commercial applications, Green Way can meet your special irrigation needs.

Drip and Subsurface Irrigation – application of water below grade and at low volume, both indoors and outdoors.

Point Irrigation – These are very small micro emitters that water a specific plant or group of plants delivering on target efficiency.

Fertigation – application of water soluble fertilizers and/or wetting agents through an irrigation system.

Effluent Water Supply – use of pond, river or other water source to supply irrigation system.
