Attention Southington Residents with Home Irrigation Systems

Backflow Prevention for Irrigation Systems per the Southington Water Department

May 1, 2019

The purpose of this blog post is to inform you that the Southington Water Department is aware that you may have a backflow prevention device installed at your home.

The State of Connecticut Public Health Code regulations 19-13-B37 and 19-13-B39 mandate certain devises be tested and the site inspected annually to prevent a cross connection with our water supply.

To comply with the State Health Department Regulations, the Town of Southington requires you, the homeowner, to set up an appointment to have the Town of Southington inspect and test your backflow devices that require annual testing.

To have the Town of Southington come to come to your home, please call 860.628.5593 to set up your appointment. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The inspector’s effort takes approximately 30 minutes to complete your backflow inspection/testing. In most cases, the Town of Southington inspectors can access your backflow preventer from the outside, which means we won’t need to enter your home.
The fee for testing is $45, however the inspection is FREE of charge.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping to ensure compliance with The State of Connecticut Public Health Code Regulations and helping us ensure that the Town of Southington is able to continue to provide safe drinking water to your home.
